Open Hearts. Open Minds. Open Doors.

United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF)

UMYF is a program designed with both middle and high school students in mind.  Recognizing that as students pass through the teen years, they are confronted with issues that are complex and challenging, our objective in UMYF is two-fold:  we hope to help equip our students spiritually, so that they will be up to the task of dealing with these challenges in a responsible manner, and to unite them with fellow Christian teens, so they will not face these challenges alone!  Here are a few specific details about our program:

  • Weekly Sunday afternoon meeting (4:00-5:30) involves a Bible Study, a fun activity such as kickball, volleyball, and the "Millionaire" game, and pizza!  Often our Sunday afternoon meeting includes a trip to the movies, bowling alley, or skating rink.

  • Occasional fund raisers and service opportunities are also a part of our program.  We always encourage our youth to participate in the Angel Food pickup and have prepared delicious Italian and Mexican dishes.  Together, we've learned that service can be fulfilling and fun.

  • Meltdown and the Big Kahunas are our significant annual events. Usually, during the first weekend in February, we head down to Panama City, Florida for a youth oriented spiritual retreat.  It is truly the highlight of our entire calendar year.  Kids from all over come together for a weekend of games, great food, inspirational music and messages.  Then, in June, we kick the summer off with a trip to the Big Kahunas water park.
