What's happening at FUMC

Dear Friends,
Please join me in congratulating Audrey Kennedy and Stephen Carper on their Christian marriage.  Their wedding took place in our sanctuary this past Saturday!  We wish them God’s richest blessings for a long and happy marriage!

Our Worship Attendance Task Force had a productive meeting yesterday after worship in Fellowship Hall.  If you would like to join this group, please let Melba Darden, who is chairing this Task Force know.  The next meeting of this task force will be in announced soon!

Will You Help?  The Worship Committee will be taking down and storing our Christmas decorations this Sunday after worship.  We need some able-bodied persons to help lift heavy trees and other decorations.  If everyone pitches in, the work will be done quickly!

This Sunday the Youth will be traveling to the Ronald McDonald House to prepare a meal for the residents.  If you would like to support the Youth by baking a cake, please contact Ed Pasek.  All Youth must have their parents complete a permission slip in order to participate.

The UMW invite all women in the church to their first meeting of the new year!  It will be this Thursday, January 11, at 11:00 a.m. in Fellowship Hall.  Lunch will be served.

Assuming I am infection-free by Wednesday, I will be undergoing bi-lateral knee replacement surgery on Thursday, January 11.  I treasure your prayers.  In my absence, the Rev. Carl Ennis, who with his wife Linda have affiliated with our congregation, has graciously agreed to provide pastoral care.  Carl’s phone number is 703-498-8700.  Any day-to-day administrative or other non-pastoral concerns should be directed to Mr. Rob Young, Lay Leader.  The Rev. Tim Trent, the Rev. Gerald Shelton, and Mr. Terry Wasden will be filling in the pulpit while I am recuperating.  Please welcome them and support their ministry with your presence!

Our Youth will be traveling to Meltdown January 26-28.  Kindly pray for our Youth and their chaperones!

The 2018 Great Night of Methodist Singing will be on February 11, at 6:00 p.m., at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center in Niceville.  Choirs across the Conference will be participating.  Admission is free.

We have begun the search for a new Children’s Choir Director.  If you know someone who may be interested, kindly ask him or her to send a resume to
